RDC Paint Bespoke Mix 5.6L

Paint that’s good for your wallet, and for the planet!

If you can’t find the colour you want on the shelf, we can blend our remixed paint together to match your colour swatch. We call this our bespoke mixing service. 

All paint is mixed in-house by hand (and by eye) by our talented team in Rediscover Paint. We can’t guarantee an exact colour match, but we’ll get as close as possible. If you’re in the Rediscovery Centre, you can spot them working through the viewing portal in the Eco Store!

Ordering:

• Step One: Choosing Your Colour
  Find a colour chart in the Eco Store or your local shop (online colours can appear differently as they would in your home) and let us know the name and brand of the paint you are trying to match. You can also bring us in a sock, book or lampshade to match!
• Step Two: Getting the Quantities Right
  Ensure you order enough paint from the batch to complete the job, as paint colours are mixed manually and colour trends may vary.  If you are unsure on quantities, you can see a paint calculation tool here, to help you figure out how much you need. As a general guide, 1 litre of paint should cover 10-12 square meters. Our paint comes in 5.6litre buckets, which covers about 56-64 metres squared. 
• Step Three: Ordering
  Please email paint@rediscoverycentre.ie with your order. We are busy mixing away in the social enterprise, collecting paint, and running our training programmes, so order times can vary from 2-4 weeks.

Colour Availability:

Please note that all our paint is remixed from existing paint, which narrows our colour options! You can’t mix black tea from milky tea, and the same goes with paint. Primary, bright, and very dark colours are less available to us, as they’re less commonly donated to recycling centres.

Usage Guide:

• Stir paint thoroughly before use, using a wide stirrer. 
• Use paint within one month of purchase.
• Store paint in dry conditions, and protect from frost and extreme temperatures.
• To get the best results, make sure your surfaces are sound, clean and dry.
• Cleaning your brushes and rollers immediately after use ensures you can use them again, reducing waste. To clean them, remove excess paint, and then wash with warm water. 

Why Proper Storage Matters:

1. Prevents Drying: An incomplete seal allows solvents to evaporate, causing the paint to skin over, lump up, or dry out entirely. 
2. Avoids Extreme Temperatures: Freezing temperatures destroy the chemical structure of paint (causing it to curdle), while extreme heat can cause cans to swell or the paint to spoil.
   
   

About our Remixed Paint:

What makes our paint eco-friendly? Rediscover Paint collects high-quality, water-based paint from recycling centres that would have otherwise been sent abroad for incineration. Since 2007, we have saved over 100 tonnes of paint from waste!

Each batch is screened to ensure it's safe, stable, and ready to be remixed. Our process adds an extra level of care, expertly remixing, repotting, and reselling the paint for a nominal fee. 

All the income from our paint is used to support our work providing paint for reuse, and allows us to provide training opportunities to people distanced from the workplace at the Rediscovery Centre.
